Water Line Maintenance

Mission:

The mission of the Water Line Maintenance Section is to transport clean drinking water from point sources within the distribution system to public and private users. The water distribution system is to be maintained in such a manner that the drinking water is safe and that adequate fire suppression supply and storage is available at all times. Public health and safety are the primary focus of this section along with employee safety and development.

The Water Line Maintenance Section is responsible for maintenance of approximately 606 miles of water lines and associated 6,071 fire hydrants and 11,139 line valves along with five water storage towers. New water meter services as well as maintenance on over 40,960 existing water meters, are provided by Division personnel.

Water line maintenance personnel are on duty from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday and are on call 24/7 to ensure quick response to water main breaks, fire hydrants, and other water related emergencies.
