Norman Animal Welfare rescues thousands of animals each year through stray recoveries and owner surrenders.
All stray animals are held for five business days if the animal has identification and at least three business days if it does not have any identification. Norman Animal Welfare makes every effort to reunite owners with found pets who have current identification. Animals that remain unclaimed following the hold period will be evaluated and placed in the adoption program. Norman Animal Welfare does not limit the amount of time that animals remain in our adoption program.
Residents who identify a stray animal that remains at large or appears dangerous can report the location of the animal by calling 405-321-1444. A Norman Animal Welfare Officer will respond to the area.
Due to COVID-19, Norman Animal Welfare is not currently accepting stray or owner surrender walk-ins to the facility. To schedule an appointment, call 405-292-9736.
Report your animal as lost on our website and search through pictures and reports of found animals. We also encourage you to review other resources for lost and found animals, such as social media.
Residents can bring any animal found in Norman to the Norman Animal Welfare Center. You can also file a report for the found animal. We check all animals for a microchip.
We encourage you to post photos and information about the found animal in the area and on social media.
