Junior tennis is the foundation of Westwood Tennis Center as depicted by the bronze statue in the entryway to the clubhouse. We pride ourselves in the tennis development of our junior players ages 3-18. Once again, the tennis center proved it is a leader in the tennis community by its commitment to provide our youth tennis players the best possible facility to train at as we just construction four stand along youth tennis courts.

Junior Team Tennis (JTT) is also a big part of our junior program. JTT allows young players to experience the thrills of team competition, all the while improving their
games, making new friends and enjoying the social benefits of tennis.
Finally, tournaments are a big make-up of our tennis center. We have hosted tournaments for 20+ years for all levels including local entry level events and USTA Oklahoma tournaments such as NETs, Challengers and Champs. We have also hosted 15+ years of sectional and national USTA events including hosting the US Open Qualifier in 2011. We are here to guide our juniors on what tournament fits their current level of player.
Junior Team Tennis
Junior Team Tennis (JTT) allows young players to experience the thrills of team competition, all the while improving their games, making new friends and enjoying the social benefits of tennis.
The program is open to girls and boys ages 7 to 18 and stages matches in a competitive, yet fun environment that introduces players to the joys of this great sport. Matches are organized both by age and ability level, which gives all players a chance to compete at a level best suited for them.
Players will have the opportunity to compete on a local team that is convenient for them, and can even play for the chance to advance to both the USTA Missouri Valley section championships and the USTA National Championships. But best of all, you’ll have fun while playing tennis.
10 and Under Players
Tiny Tots ages 3-4 Red Ball
Mighty Mites ages 5-8 Red Ball
Mighty Mites ages 8-10 Orange Ball
Kids play using red, orange or green balls that bounce lower, don’t move as fast through the air and are easier to hit. Racquets are sized for small hands and courts are smaller and easier to cover. The benefits are immediate and within a short time, kids are rallying and playing – and are excited to keep playing! Kids will have more fun – and feel less frustration.
Westwood Tennis Center’s 10 and Under Tennis program is top notch! Our staff is committed to creating a safe, fun and accelerated learning environment for all junior entry level players. We have combined the USTA 10 and Under Tennis format with our own developmental process to enhance the mental, physical and technical growth of all of our junior players. If your child is interested in participating in our program, please review the upcoming enrollment dates below. Our classes fill up very fast so mark your calendars!
All intro classes do not require a membership. Elite level players have been evaluated and invited to participate in our Elite level classes. Players will build a strong tennis foundation and learn strategies to lead them toward the pathway of competitive play.
Challengers (Age 11 - 8th Grade)
Not every tennis player starts training when they are an infant. Not every player wants to compete in college, or even in high school for that matter. Some kids just want to learn to play just for fun so they can compete a little better on the public courts every now and then. Also, some parents may be looking for fitness of a different kind for their child. In either case, “Challengers” would be a perfect fit. Challenger classes are a wonderful way to “test” tennis to see if it's something your child would enjoy.
Excellence 1&2 (9th-12th Grade)
This class provides the foundation for the players to instill a discipline and mindset that allows them to get the most out of themselves. These players are tournament ready with the goals in making the high school tennis team as well as advancing in the rankings on district, section or national level. While this class is for 9th-12th grade players, it is not uncommon to have younger players that are at the same level or better.
