Operations at new Municipal Court facility on North Webster Avenue to soon begin

UPDATE, 12/15/23: Due to unforeseen scheduling issues, facility transition for the Municipal Court staff has been delayed until after the holidays. At this time, operations of Municipal Court are expected to occur as regularly scheduled through December. In-person services will not be available January 2 or January 3 as the move to 321 N. Webster takes place. Traditional business will resume on January 4 at 321 N. Webster. During the time that in-person services are not available, payments/court fines may be submitted digitally at Normanok.gov. The City of Norman regrets any inconveniences. Questions or concerns may be directed to 405.366.5325.

POSTED, 12/14/23: In-person services offered through the City of Norman’s Municipal Court will be temporarily unavailable as staff transition to a new building next week. The court will be closed December 19 and December 20; regular operations will resume at the new facility, located at 321 N. Webster, on December 21.

“This facility will provide more adequate space for daily court functions,” said Ronda Guerrero, Municipal Court Administrator. “We are grateful to see this voter-approved project come to life.”

Currently, Municipal Court is attached to the Norman Police Department at the northwest corner of North Santa Fe Avenue and West Daws Street. The move next door – to the remodeled City-owned facility, formerly known as “Building A” – will accommodate for any judicial or legislative changes that may occur in the future. Construction on the $3.7 million project began in February 2023. The Norman Police Department will utilize space in the former court facility once the move is completed.

Those needing to pay court fines or reach municipal staff on December 19 or December 20, should do so by visiting Normanok.gov. Information regarding a ribbon-cutting event and grand tour of the new facility will be made available in weeks to come.
