Norman celebrates Small Business Saturday on November 25, 2023

Norman Mayor Larry Heikkila issued a proclamation at City Hall on November 14, 2023, to raise awareness for Small Business Saturday  an annual celebration highlighting the impact of small businesses in boosting the local economy.

Community members are invited to shop local and shop local on November 25 and throughout the holiday season. Now a national holiday, Small Business Saturday is dedicated to celebrating small businesses by helping to drive more customers through the doors of retail stores, restaurants, fitness studios, salons – and everything in between. The City of Norman has promoted Small Business Saturday in partnership with the Norman Chamber of Commerce and VisitNorman since 2015.

“We have a ton of uniquely Norman businesses – places you can go to find these special one-off gifts and items and you can’t get anywhere else,” said Scott Martin, Norman Chamber of Commerce President & CEO. “Our community is really proud of that. We are hoping everyone will get out and take advantage of those opportunities during Small Business Saturday and all year round. When you buy something local, you are investing local.”

Two-thirds of every dollar spent in the small business stays in the local community, Martin shared.

A list of participating Norman businesses and more will be available online at www.normanchamber.com/smallbizsat and on the VisitNorman app. Questions or requests to be listed as a participating business can be directed to sara.kaplan@normanok.gov. Businesses wishing to be listed as participating, should send in requests by 5 p.m. November 20, 2023.
