Electronics Waste Recycling Event slated for April 30, 2022

Cleveland County residents encouraged to properly dispose of e-waste

The City of Norman has partnered with Cleveland County and United Electronic Recycling to host an Electronics Waste (“E-Waste”) Recycling Event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 30, 2022. The event will take place at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, 615 E. Robinson, and is open to all Cleveland County residents. Those attending should enter from Robinson and exit onto Porter Avenue; all attendees should bring proof of residency.

“It is important that we responsibly dispose of electronic waste as many devices contain hazardous chemicals or materials that can pose great safety hazards to people, animals and the environment,” said Environmental and Sustainability Manager Michele Loudenback. “The upcoming event will accept a wide variety of items and we encourage all residents to take advantage of this convenient drive-thru opportunity.”

Acceptable electronics include: Televisions, printers, fax machines, copiers/scanners, laptops/tablets, iPods, MP3 players, audio and video equipment, PC speakers, keyboards, VCR/DVD/CD players, modems and hard drives, cell phones, telephones and computer monitors. Questions may be directed to (405)292-9731.

The event is part of a larger series of initiatives celebrating Green Norman Eco Month – coordinated to continue education about environmental sustainability and protection. Partnering company United Electronic Recycling is R2 certified and ensures that all personal data is fully wiped during processing.
