Job Description

This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019.   This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.

Education and Experience: Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.

Licenses: Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle record.

Skills: Ability to perform general building, grounds and basic maintenance work and to work outdoors in extreme heat. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to safely operate city equipment and to work independently with minimal direct oversight. Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.

Essential Functions:  Perform grounds keeping and building and equipment maintenance work with empha-sis on mowing and painting. Operate city equipment. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary, but will primar-ily involve painting, building maintenance and mowing with riding and push mowers.

Mental & Physical Abilities: Must have strength to pull, lift, push 50 pound objects on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds (such as a bag of cement) on an infrequent basis; flexibility to bend, twist, and reach; mobility to climb, crawl, and walk; dexterity to operate machinery and tools on uneven surfaces, etc.; and stamina to exert self throughout the day in all weather conditions.

Working Conditions:  Position may include any or all of the following: Much of the work is performed in in-clement weather. Some work is performed in confined areas, on slick and wet surfaces. Employees are exposed to vibrations, loud continuous noise, offensive smells, dust, dirt, and water. Exposed to injury from moving equipment, insect bites, poisonous plants, flying objects, slippery surfaces, hazardous material.
