Job Description
This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.
Education and Experience: Ability to understand, follow and/or provide verbal and written instructions or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Must possess or obtain Pesticide Applicator’s License within six (6) months’ probationary period
Knowledge: Hand and power tools. Maintenance and construction work.
Skills: Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees and citizens while performing duties.
Essential Functions: Applies pesticides, fertilizes, mows and waters greens, and changes cups on greens. Trims trees, shrubs and hedges, and mows fairways. Picks up trash and other debris. Rakes leaves and removes snow from walkways. Operates a weed eater, chainsaw, trimmers, and pole nippers. Removes limbs and stumps and places in chipper or stump cutter. Interfaces with citizens in person regarding minor complaints or questions. Inspects equipment for safety hazards before use. Works in a manner safe to the individual and public. Follows safety rules. Uses safety equipment as required. Keeps work area clean and safe. Performs related duties as required.
Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lb.) and heavy (50-75 lb.) supplies, materials, and debris frequently. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.
Working Conditions: Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extreme temperatures, noise, and noxious fumes and odors. Exposure to hazards associated with equipment and machinery. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.
