Maintenance Worker I - Streets

Salary: $15.95 per hour (Non-Exempt)
Shift: 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (Weekend, holidays and after hours maybe required)

Job Description

This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019.   This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.

Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to understand, follow and/or provide verbal and written instructions or any equivalent combination of education and experience which pro-vides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


License and Certifications: Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record. Selected applicant must obtain Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with air brakes, within one (1) year of employment.
 

Knowledge: Hand and power tools. Maintenance and construction work.


Skills: Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous to fellow employees and citizens while performing du-ties.
 

Essential Functions: Shovels and rakes asphalt to patch holes in streets. Trims and mows drainage ways and clears debris. Performs erosion control in drainage ways. Assists in the installation of concrete for walks, curbs, pavement, and drainage structures. Directs traffic at work site. Interfaces with citizens in person regarding minor complaints or questions. Hauls construction material or debris on a dump truck. Inspects equipment for safety hazards before use. Works in a manner safe to the individual and public. Keeps work area clean and safe. Follows safe-ty rules. Uses safety equipment as required. Performs related duties as required.
 

Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lb.) and heavy (50-75 lb.) supplies, materials, and debris frequently. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.
 

Working Conditions: Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extreme temperatures, noise, and noxious fumes and odors. Exposure to hazards associated with equipment, machinery, upgraded terrain at construction sites, and moving vehicles on roadways. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.
