Ribbon-cutting, open house planned at City of Norman’s Development Center

A ribbon-cutting and open house event – to include a scavenger hunt and goodie giveaways – will take place at the City of Norman’s new Development Center, 225 N. Webster Avenue, from 1-3 p.m. on January 27. All are welcome to attend.

Through strategic layout and upgraded capabilities, individuals conducting business with City staff can look forward to enhanced service experiences at the center. The departments of Utilities, Parks & Recreation, Finance, Public Works and Planning & Community Development are housed in the new facility. Construction began in March 2021; key features comprise of new carpet and flooring, new restrooms with new tile and finishes, increased storage for all City of Norman departments, LED lighting, public meeting rooms outfitted with A/V equipment and hearing loops. A pneumatic tube and drive-thru for easy payment processing is now also available for City of Norman utility customers.

The $8.5 million voter-approved project is part of a Municipal Complex GO Bond for renovations. The facility will serve as a “one-stop shop” to make building and development processes more efficient, while creating a common space for departments that may share joint tasks in certain business elements. Contractors of the project include ADG|Blatt, The McKinney Partnership and Crossland Construction.

Those attending the upcoming event should enter through the north doors of the building.
