Request to Reduce Water Consumption on Monday, October 3, 2022

City of Norman utility customers are asked to conserve water from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022. A contractor will be replacing the existing carbon dioxide tank at the Water Treatment Plant during this time and reduced water usage will further ensure uninterrupted water service for customers.

Work was intended to be scheduled during lower demand periods but water demands have remained higher than usual due to lack of rainfall and warmer than normal temperatures. The City of Norman appreciates the cooperation of customers during this replacement project.

PROJECT INFORMATION

Contract K-2122-44 was awarded to Wynn Construction Company, Inc., on November 9, 2021, for completion of this work. The existing carbon dioxide tank is near the end of its useful life and vendors are not able to supply replacement parts or provide maintenance services to the existing model any longer. Carbon dioxide is used to adjust the pH of the drinking water to optimum levels following other treatment processes.

Questions may be directed to the Water Treatment Division at 405.321.2182.
