POSTED, 12/4/23: The City of Norman (City) and the Norman Utilities Authority (NUA) are holding a Public Meeting at the Franklin Baptist Church at 7327 E Franklin Road, Norman, OK 73026 on December 11, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM to present information regarding the proposed groundwater facility to be constructed at the property owned by the City at 4020 E Tecumseh Road. The December 11th meeting is an initial meeting that City staff has opted to host; additional meetings – as required by City regulations for requested zoning changes and requested property platting – will also be scheduled in weeks to come.

The groundwater facility is a phased project to attain compliance with Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) requirements for disinfectant residuals within the distribution system in the short-term but with long-term site planning for future treatment systems as regulations become more stringent. The project has been planned for nearly 10 years and the City and NUA are excited to move forward in further strengthening our water system. Most recently, in June 2023, voters approved a water rate proposition that would allow for a portion of additional revenues to go toward the construction of this facility.

Information regarding the proposed facility design and layout, as well as potential future improvements that are likely to be required in years to come, will be covered at the meeting. Questions regarding the meeting or project can be directed to 405-366-5443.
