Norman Volunteer Opportunity: Beep Baseball World Series

Event occurring first week of August 2023

Norman will host the Beep Baseball World Series from August 1-5, 2023, and is calling upon community volunteers to help make the event a success. A digital sign-up form can be found at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080448aaaf2aabf85-beep#/.

This international tournament brings together talented athletes who are visually impaired. The unique adaptation of baseball involves the use of a beeping ball and buzzing bases to facilitate gameplay for individuals with visual impairments.

“Norman is honored to be chosen as the venue for this remarkable event,” said Mayor Larry Heikkila. “Beep Baseball not only showcases the exceptional athletic abilities of participants but also empowers all involved – from players and coaches, to volunteers and spectators.”

The City of Norman, VisitNorman and partnering agencies are seeking committed volunteers to serve in a variety of capacities to ensure smooth operation of the tournament. Volunteerism is invaluable in creating a warm and welcoming environment, as well as an unforgettable experience. Interested persons should be at least 12 years of age and can expect to assist in registration, participant direction, equipment management, event staff support, and other tasks.

The first volunteer training is slated for the morning of July 29, 2023, at Gillis Rother Soccer Complex, 1001 E. Robinson Street; volunteers are asked to sign up prior to the training event.
