Norman Solar Initiative in the works

Norman City Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding, Contract K-2324-158, by and between the City of Norman and EightTwenty LLC to establish a citywide solar photovoltaic group purchasing program – the Norman Solar Initiative – on March 12, 2024.

The purpose of the initiative is to increase education in the local community about solar photovoltaics (solar panels) while allowing for accelerated installation of these systems among interested residents and business owners. A group purchasing element of the initiative will allow for reduced costs on behalf of the contractor and the consumer; the overall program is intended to reduce Green House Gas (GHG) emissions from the power sector to enhance environmental sustainability efforts in Norman. See an overview of the initiative, as provided by the selected contractor, here.

Additional information and updates on this initiative, to include details on a community educational kickoff that will be open to the public, will be made available at https://eighttwenty.com/norman/ in weeks to come.
