Norman Police Investigate Fatal Collision on State Highway 9 near 108th Avenue SE

The Norman Police Department responded to a report of an injury collision involving two vehicles on State Highway 9 near 108th Avenue SE at approximately 12:12 p.m. on August 4.

The initial investigation indicates that one vehicle was traveling eastbound on State Highway 9 near 108th Avenue SE when it traveled left of the center line for an unknown reason colliding head-on with another vehicle traveling westbound.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle has been identified as a 72-year-old male. He was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained during the collision. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The driver of the westbound vehicle has been identified as a 26-year-old female. She was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained during the collision. Her vehicle also had a 3-year-old female passenger in the backseat at the time of the collision. The juvenile was transported to an area hospital for treatment.   

The collision remains under investigation by the NPD/OUPD Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team (CIRT).
