Norman Police Arrest One following Assault in the 100 block of W. Main Street

The Norman Police Department (NPD) responded to a report of a stabbing at a restaurant in the 100 block of W. Main Street at approximately 8:24 p.m. on November 9. Once on scene, officers located one victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses were able to provide dispatch with a suspect description and location of travel that aided officers in locating the individual, later identified as 28-year-old Jaspen Evans (DOB: 05/17/1995), a short distance away. Evans was taken into custody without incident. Evans was transported to the Cleveland County Detention Center and booked in on a complaint of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

The initial investigation indicates that Evans entered the restaurant in the 100 block of W. Main Street and stood near the bar area. The victim, an employee of the restaurant, approached Evans to inquire if he needed assistance. Evans provided an unintelligible response, and the employee continued to walk past Evans when he felt an object pressed into his back. Witnesses observed Evans with a white object in his hand as he struck the victim in the back. The white object was later determined to be a toothbrush sharpened into a point with a wrap around the handle. Evans then left the restaurant.

The incident remains under investigation by the NPD Criminal Investigation Division.
