New Park Design to be discussed at upcoming meeting

Park to be named in honor of the late Lionel Bentley

The Norman Board of Park Commissioners will hold their regular monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. 12/1/22 in the Executive Conference Room of Norman City Hall, 201 W. Gray Street, to review a proposed design for a new park for the Bellatona and Summit Valley neighborhoods in Southeast Norman.

The new park will be named in honor of the late Lionel Bentley, a former Director of Norman Parks and Recreation, and the design is based on survey feedback from area residents earlier this year. Park construction is expected to be completed in 2023 and will be partially funded with a generous donation from the Bentley Family, along with NORMAN FORWARD funds earmarked for new neighborhood park development.

Other items on the agenda include a presentation regarding other neighborhood park renovations and a proposal to formally name roads in Reaves Park.
