Veterans Day 2022 observance, information from the City of Norman

City of Norman Administrative Offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day on 11/11/22.

Trash service will remain on regular schedule – to include trash, yard waste, recycling and commercial. The Compost Facility and the Transfer Station will also remain open. The Compost Facility, located at 398 Bratcher Miner Road, is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and the Transfer Station, located at 3901 S. Chautauqua, is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional questions may be directed to the Solid Waste Division at 405.329.1023.

Recreation Centers will be open for childcare programming only as schools are in session. The Senior Center will be closed. Additional questions may be directed to the Department of Parks & Recreation at 405.366.5472.

 

COMMUNITY PARADE & CEREMONY INFORMATION

The community’s annual parade and ceremony to honor veterans will take place 11/13/22. The parade will leave from the OU Stephenson Research Technology Center, 101 David L. Boren Boulevard, at 2 p.m. and finish at Reaves Park, 2501 Jenkins Avenue. The ceremony at Reaves Park will begin at 3 p.m. and feature words from U.S. Marine Major Andrew Manaois centered around “Honoring our Past into the Future” – this year’s theme.

The parade route includes a procession north on Jenkins Avenue, then east on Constitution, and ultimately north into the park. Drivers and pedestrians should adhere to all signage placed in the area.
