Beginning Monday, April 15, 2024, the northbound and southbound outside lanes on Classen Boulevard from 12th Avenue SE to Shawnee Street will be closed for approximately 5 weeks (weather dependent) for the installation of sidewalks in the area. The inside traffic lanes in both directions will remain open. The traveling public should use extra caution in this area as workers and equipment will be present.

 

History of the Project

On March 26, 2024, City Council approved the Classen Boulevard Sidewalk Improvements Project, which includes the remediation and installation of new sidewalk and curb and gutter along the east and west sides of Classen Boulevard from 12th Avenue SE to Shawnee Street.

 

Proposed improvements include:

• New and remediation of old sidewalks
• New and remediation of old  curb and gutter
• Pedestrian safety improvements
