Applications now open for the 2024-25 Norman Youth Council

POSTED 3/25/24: The City of Norman is seeking high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who are active in their school and community and are interested in learning about local government. The City is currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 Norman Youth Council Class. In addition to providing a completed application, applicants will need to provide two letters of recommendation from adults familiar with their leadership skills and service to the community. Applications are due by May 24th, 2024, and can be accessed here.

Successful applicants will serve a term from August 2024 through May 2025 and will be limited to two (2) terms of service only if there are more applicants than spots available. There are sixteen (16) spots on the Norman Youth Council. The Norman Youth Council will meet the second Monday of every month during the school year from 4:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., except in May 2025, when they will meet the second Tuesday of the month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Norman Youth Council will focus on an advocacy project during the term, with the opportunity to meet and have discussions with City Officials as well as tour City facilities and listen to presentations and have Q&A sessions with City Staff regarding their selected advocacy project topic. The Youth Council will present their advocacy project to City Council during the May 2025 monthly meeting.
