Public Transportation

The City of Norman is pleased to offer public transportation as a part of its services to the residents of Norman. Transporting approximately 300,000 passengers annually, fixed-route and paratransit services are provided through a partnership with EMBARK (www.embarkok.com/norman).

Fare

Unless notified otherwise, the City of Norman transit service is operating fare-free until June 30, 2021.

Fixed-Route Services (EMBARK Norman)

The City of Norman has five local routes that serve various destinations in the community. In addition, a limited service route to the Moore Social Security Office is provided twice a week and a commuter route to and from Oklahoma City is offered Monday through Friday by EMBARK OKC. Paratransit (EMBARK Plus)

EMBARK Plus paratransit service complements the existing transit system by providing transportation to people who are functionally unable to utilize local fixed-route service.  EMBARK Plus paratransit service is a shared-ride public transportation and requires an application and eligibility determination prior to use.

Go Norman Transit Study

In July 2020, the City of Norman began a study evaluating the need for improved and expanded transit for our community. This includes a review of existing transit service and local conditions. The study provides numerous opportunities for community input and the outcome of the study will be a detailed plan for transit improvements and investments. The final plan is expected to be finalized and submitted to City Council for consideration and adoption in June/July 2021.
