Pre-Development Informational Meetings
The City of Norman requires a Pre-Development Informational Meeting (36-571) with nearby property owners when applying for the following:
- Land Use Amendment
- Rezoning of parcels larger than 40 acres
- Special Use
- Preliminary Plat or Norman Rural Certificate of Survey (COS)
- New Commercial Communication Tower
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an informal opportunity for applicants to share their proposed development concept, answer questions, and receive feedback from surrounding neighbors. Concerns raised during this meeting can be addressed and incorporated into the formal Planning Commission application.
Although not required for short-form plats or rezonings under 40 acres not accompanied by a preliminary plat, these meetings are recommended to gather early feedback. Certified Ownership Lists from the Pre-Development applications can be used for the Planning Commission application, however, the list will need to be updated if applications are more than six (6) months apart. Pre-Development and Planning Commission applications may be submitted simultaneously, if preferred.
Meeting Schedule:
Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. (November and December meetings may vary).
