Councilmember Kyle Steele has lived in Norman since 2005.  He graduated from Norman High School in 2009 and received his bachelors from the University of Oklahoma in Human Relations.  On the career side, he has worked in the Information Technology sector for over 10 years and, as a result, believes in a data driven and research-based approach to solving problems.
 

Ward Six begins at the intersection of Indian Hills Road and 12th Avenue N.W.; east on Indian Hills Road to 24th Avenue N.E.; south on 24th Avenue N.E. to Franklin Road; east on Franklin Road to 36th Avenue N.E.; south on 36th Avenue N.E. to Alameda Street; west on Alameda Street to 12th Avenue N.E.; north on 12th Avenue N.E. to Robinson Street; west on Robinson Street to Porter Avenue; north on Porter Avenue to Tecumseh Road; west on Tecumseh Road to 12th Avenue N.W.; and north on 12th Avenue N.W. to City limits.
 

When it comes to elected officials, Kyle believes they need to advocate for constituents’ views, not their own, as well as be transparent about what is being discussed in sessions and what elected officials are doing between those sessions.  For Councilmember Steele, this translates to prioritizing transparency in his actions and being available to speak with residents of Ward 6, as well as giving constant updates on issues important to the Ward via public forums (Council Meetings and City Website) and social media (Facebook, YouTube, and Campaign Website).  Anyone in Ward 6 with concerns is encourage to contact him via email, phone, or social media.  He also advertises times when and where he will be out in the community so anyone can come up and chat about local concerns.
 

Kyle is active in a frontline capacity with various organizations and non-profits around Norman because while committees are important, he believes that in order to serve Norman’s community, you have to be active in it, and to understand a problem you have to see it firsthand.
