Ward 5 - Brandon Nofire

Councilmember Brandon Nofire, a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation, was born and raised on tribal lands in Muldrow, Oklahoma. In 2002, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served as an avionics technician on the Harrier jump jet with VMA-223. He deployed to Iraq for seven months in 2005 to support Operation Iraqi Freedom. After his military service, Brandon attended the University of Oklahoma, where he studied engineering physics. He also walked on to the football team before a broken arm led to his medical retirement from the sport. During this time, he developed a deep connection to the city of Norman. Brandon returned to aircraft maintenance, first at Tinker Air Force Base and later as a field engineer on the MQ-9 Reaper in California and overseas. It was during this time that he met his wife, Erica. In 2018, the couple returned to Norman permanently to start their family, choosing to live in Ward 5 for its rural feel. They have two young sons, Kyler and Dakota.

Ward 5 consists of mostly rural area and covers the largest land mass of all the wards in Norman.  The Ward begins where the south boundary of the City intersects with Classen Boulevard (Post Oak Road); northwest along Classen Boulevard to State Highway 9; east on State Highway 9 to 24th Avenue S.E.; north on 24th Avenue S.E. to Lindsey Street; east on Lindsey Street to 48th Avenue S.E.; north on 48th Avenue S.E. to Alameda Street; west on Alameda Street to 36th Avenue N.E.; north on 36th Avenue N.E. to the intersection with the Northern boundary of the City (Indian Hills Road). The eastern boundary continues east to the far side of Lake Thunderbird and encompasses Little Axe with the east border being as far out as 180th Avenue.

With a Bachelor of Business Administration and over 20 years of experience in the aerospace and defense sectors, Councilmember Nofire brings a distinctive understanding of the relationship between government and business. He is dedicated to serving his community and is committed to preserving the rural character of Eastern Norman. 

Councilmember Nofire is focused on balancing the needs of the individual citizens with the needs of the city and strives to ensure responsible growth and fiscal prudence. His mission is to promote policies that benefit the community while respecting the rights and property of Normanites. 

Councilmember Nofire serves on the Council Oversight Committee and the Community Planning and Transportation Committee and represents Council on the Animal Welfare Oversight Committee.
