Councilmember David Michael Jordan Gandesbery was born on February 28, 1975, in Wagoneer Oklahoma. David moved to Noble in fourth grade where he remained until graduating Noble High School. While in Noble David, worked at the local Sonic, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, BBQ pit, and Taco Mayo. David moved to Norman in 1999 and has lived in Ward 1 for the last 20 years.
Ward One begins at the intersection of Alameda Street and 12th Avenue N.E.; east on Alameda Street to 48th Avenue N.E.; south on 48th Avenue N.E. to Lindsey Street; west on Lindsey Street to 24th Avenue S.E.; south on 24th Avenue S.E. to State Highway 9; west on State Highway 9 to Classen Boulevard; northwesterly on Classen Boulevard to 12th Avenue S.E.; and north on 12th Avenue S.E. to Alameda Street.
Councilmember Gandesbery has worked as Security Coordinator for Norman Regional Health System for the last 18 years. While working for Norman Regional David has earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Management and an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. David currently has over 1300 certifications in FEMA, Disaster Management, Mental Health and homeless academy.
Councilmember Gandesbery has been married to his amazing wife Catherine Lee Gandesbery for the last 18 years. During their marriage David and his wife have adopted four of their special needs grandsons. Landon, Joey, Zackery, and Bentley who have helped David find his purpose and his way. Each son has taught him many life lessons but the most important is to not judge a book by its cover. During the election campaign David discovered that he also has a loving daughter living in Kentucky named Jessica. David has enjoyed the journey of reconnection after many years of not knowing.
Councilmember Gandesbery currently volunteers as an Early Settlement Mediator for the City of Norman. David graduated in the first ever City of Norman Citizen Academy. David graduated the Norman Citizens Police Academy (also serves on their alumni association). David has graduated the FBI Citizen Academy (also serves on their alumni association), David graduated Leadership Norman (named Earl Sneed award winner for Leadership)
David serves Norman Regional as a Run-Hide-Fight instructor, De-escalation instructor, Healer Support Team Member, and Co-Chair of the Care Committee.
Councilmember Gandesbery serves on the Finance Committee and the Oversight Committee.
