The City of Norman Stormwater Division is responsible tor the protection of the health, safety and welfare of the people of Norman by reducing the impact of flooding, erosion, and water pollution.
When flooding occurs, it is important for residents to report damage and relevant information to the Stormwater Division as such information is utilized in applying for community grants that positively impact Norman. Residents should be advised that City reporting does not substitute in any way contacting insurance firms to file claims; this action should be taken separately and immediately upon experiencing property damage.

PRE-FLOOD INFORMATION
Heavy rain is predicted for today. Heavy rain can cause flooding, so it is important that residents are prepared. The City of Norman reminds residents to be prepared:
- Have an emergency kit, including a flashlight, water and AM/FM battery operated radio.
- Avoid travel in low lying areas that are prone to localized flooding.
- Do not drive into standing water. Turn around don't drown.
- Shelter in place.
- Stay tuned to local TV, radio stations and City media for weather updates or instruction.

DURING A FLOOD INFORMATION

- Be advised that certain repairs may require a permit.
- If the damage that exceeds 50% of the value of the structure, the structure must be brought into compliance with floodplain regulations.
