Winter Weather Information, March 2022

4 P.M. 3/11/22: NPD reports a transition to normal responses to collision calls. Utilities reports that Solid Waste Collection operations continue and have not been significantly impacted by the winter weather event.

8:03 A.M. 3/11/22: The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect. Salt/sanding operations are being carried out throughout Norman. Drivers should use caution traveling and allot extra time to reach destinations. All City offices are open. No delays or closings are in place for City recreation & community centers at this time.

Due to roadway conditions, NPD is not responding to non-injury collisions at this time. Drivers are asked to clear the roadway and exchange information if involved in a collision with no injuries.

11:51 A.M. 3/10/22: A Winter Weather Advisory and Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for the Norman Area through the National Weather Service. Wintry precipitation is expected. Slippery road conditions may develop overnight, creating hazardous conditions for Friday morning and evening commutes. 

Citizens are encouraged to monitor the National Weather Service for updates and stay prepared for impacts of winter weather.

Public Works is monitoring weather patterns and will begin pretreatment operations this afternoon. All equipment has been checked and prepped for deployment. Drivers should always give 200 feet of clearance to roadway clearing equipment. Locally, advised routes of travel during extreme winter weather can be found here:

Additional road treatment or road clearing operations by the City will ensue 3/11/22 as conditions warrant.
