The City of Norman invites community members of all ages to bundle up, get festive, and hit the pavement for the annual Ugly Sweater Run on Saturday, December 13, beginning at 5 p.m. at Legacy Park.
This year’s event offers two options: a traditional 5K race and a one-mile fun run, making it a great opportunity for seasoned or beginner runners and families. Check out options or register to participate online here. Participants are encouraged to wear their most creative, colorful holiday sweaters.
All participants will receive a fun finisher medal and a custom race bib, and 5K runners will also receive a timing chip. Race shirts are available as a $15 add-on, with participants able to choose between a long-sleeved cotton t-shirt or a sweatshirt. Any remaining shirts will be sold at the event while supplies and sizes last.
The race route will kick off on Interstate Drive at the southwest corner of Legacy Park, heading north to the roundabout at Interstate Drive and Corporate Centre Drive before looping back. Alongside friendly competition, runners can look forward to a festive atmosphere, complete with snow machines at the start/finish line area.
The event will also feature local vendors, including Raising Cane’s and Stretch Lab.
“We are so proud of the amount of registrations for this run,” said Jeff Moody, Norman Parks and Recreation's Program Coordinator. “This is our first ugly sweater run at night! We thought it would be fun to have holiday lights and light-up sweaters. The runners really dive into the themes and it makes it a lot of fun!”
