Norman Residents invited to Open House Events in December for Comprehensive Planning Process updates

Norman residents are invited to attend open house events in December as part of the ongoing Area & Infrastructure Master Plan (AIM Norman). These events, hosted by the City of Norman, offer an opportunity for community members to learn more about the city's master planning efforts directly from the planning team.

“There is quite a bit of projected growth, which we want to balance with protection of Lake Thunderbird, the Garber-Wellington aquifer, green and wild space, and wildlife. We want AIM Norman to be built around what residents envision for the future of our community — the many different priorities for and pressures on our community,” said Inger Giuffrida, co-chair of the AIM Norman Steering Committee. “The involvement of Norman residents ensures our community can grow in a way that reflects the values and vision of everyone who lives here.”

The AIM Norman initiative is designed to guide the city’s growth and infrastructure improvements over the coming years, with resident input playing a key role in shaping the plan's direction.

Event Details

  • December 10, 2024: 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Young Family Athletic Center, NMotion Classroom | 2201 Trae Young Drive
  • December 11, 2024: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Development Center, Conference Room A | 225 N. Webster

At each event, the AIM Norman Planning Team will provide an introduction to the plans that have been developed as part of AIM Norman. Resident volunteers and city staff who have been involved in the project will be available to answer questions. The open houses provide a chance for residents to engage directly with consultants and city staff and offer feedback on a variety of topics, including water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, housing, parks and land use.

“We encourage all residents to attend these open houses and become active participants in the future of Norman,” said Shavonne Evans, co-chair of the AIM Norman Steering Committee. “Your input will help ensure our master plan reflects the needs and priorities of our community.”

The citizen-led Steering Committee expects AIM Norman will be completed and available to the public next spring. For more information, visit aimnorman.com.
