Norman police arrested 19-year-old Landon Appleby (DOB: 12/19/2005) in connection to multiple home invasion burglaries as well as other associated crimes occurring over the last five months in the area of 12th Avenue and Alameda.
On Jan. 29 at approximately 1 a.m., Appleby attempted a burglary at a residence in the 1600 block of Alameda Street. Officers quickly responded to the scene and established a perimeter. Appleby was located in the area of Shiloh Drive and Alameda Street. Upon contact, Appleby ran from officers. During the short foot pursuit officers deployed their taser, Appleby was then taken into custody without further incident.
During the course of the investigation, Appleby was connected to and admitted to his role in at least 15 incidents in which he made or attempted entry into primarily occupied residences during the night. During one of these incidents, Appleby sexual assaulted an adult female.
Appleby was booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on one complaint of Rape in the First Degree, 10 complaints of Burglary in the first degree, one complaint of Burglary in the Second Degree, and four complaints of Attempted Burglary.
