Norman to host parade and ceremony to honor Veterans on November 14

Veterans Day, observed annually on November 11, is a tribute to military Veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Norman's annual community event honors and thanks those who have served and provides a space for citizens to display such gratitude and appreciation.

Norman's annual Veterans Day Parade and Veteran's Memorial Ceremony are scheduled for Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.

The parade will begin at 2 p.m. at the OU Stephenson Research Center, 101 David L Boren Blvd. The parade will proceed north on Jenkins Avenue, east on Constitution, and then travel north to the Cleveland County Veterans Memorial. The parade will include a wide variety of unique classic cars and military vehicles. 

The memorial ceremony, sponsored by the Norman Veterans committee, a group of volunteers dedicated to honoring all veterans, will begin at 3 p.m. at Reaves Park, 2501 Jenkins Avenue. Speakers include Brigadier General Ben Robinson, who flew over 250 combat missions with the U.S. Air Force; and Lieutenant Colonel Stephen E. Regan, also a U.S. Airforce veteran, who is now a dedicated volunteer at the Dale K. Graham Veterans Foundation.

Parking is available at Reaves Park, the OU Stephenson Research Center and various areas of the OU campus. Guests are welcome to enjoy light refreshments before the ceremony.
