New Back-in Angle Parking Pilot Project on James Garner Avenue begins Thursday

Implemented on James Garner Avenue between Apache and Symmes Street

The existing parallel parking spaces with the pull-off lane on the west side of James Garner Avenue between Apache Street and Symmes Street will be transformed on Thursday, October 7. Vehicle notification to avoid parking in this area will begin this week, so the change in parking angle can be completed without obstruction.

These spaces were assigned to another pilot project three years ago to introduce what parallel parking with pull-off lane could look like in Norman. The concept of a new pilot project is attractive as the back-in angle parking design is being discussed on future projects in Norman.

Questions regarding this pilot project can be directed to David Riesland, Public Works Transportation Engineer, at 405-217-7762 or David.Riesland@NormanOK.gov.
