UPDATE, 9/1/26: On September 8, 2026, a contractor for the City of Norman will close Duffy Street between Jenkins Avenue and S. Jones Avenue to replace the existing 16-inch water line as part of the James Garner Waterline Replacement project. This closure is expected to last for one week. The road is expected to be opened back up to traffic on September 15, 2026.

Replacement of the water lines within this corridor will eliminate future conflicts with the upcoming Public Works project (James Garner Streetscape) and will reduce the likelihood of water system impacts to the new street improvements. Residents are kindly reminded to adhere to traffic control measures in place and plan extra time when traveling through this work area. Relevant updates will be made available at Normanok.gov as the project moves forward.

POSTED 7/10/26: On July 13, 2026, a contractor for the City of Norman will begin the James Garner Water Line Replacement project along James Garner Avenue generally from Duffy Street north to Main Street. This work will require intermittent lane closures in the area to provide an adequate, safe work area for the contractor. The work associated with the project is expected to last for a duration of 8 months.
