Daddy Daughter Dance planned for Saturday, February 5

In-person attendance and virtual option available

After going fully virtual in 2021 due to COVID-19, one of the most exciting nights of the year – the City of Norman Daddy Daughter Dance – is back with in-person attendance and virtual participation options, complements of SportsTalk 1400, on February 5.

Dads and daughters are welcome to enjoy a special evening with a live DJ, refreshments and some fun surprises. The Department of Parks & Recreation has coordinated three in-person event options at Embassy Suites, 2501 Conference Drive:

• The Red Dance, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

• The Pink Dance, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

• The Blue Dance, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

·         VIRTUAL OPTION: Daddy Daughter Dance @Home, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The Blue dance will be emceed over SportsTalk radio on 1400AM/99.3 FM, the SportsTalk app or streamed on their website at 7 p.m.

All dances are for all ages. Each in-person dance offers the same type of entertainment and amenities, to include complimentary snacks and refreshments.

“The Daddy Daughter Dance is our most popular event and holds a special place in the hearts of many residents,” said Jason Olsen, Director of Norman Parks and Recreation. “After going fully virtual last year, we are excited to be able to enjoy this event in-person with some COVID safety measures in place as well as a virtual option again for those that would like to stay home and dance the night away.”

The dance capacity has been lowered by 50 percent this year in order to create social distancing opportunities. Masks are highly recommended for all, regardless of vaccination status, and will be worn by staff at all times.

Tickets are $15 each and are expected to sell out. They can be bought online at cityofnorman.thundertix.com. Each person must have a ticket to enter a dance.

Daddy Daughter Dance @Home souvenir bags are available to purchase for the first 500 people. Pick-up is available at the 12th Avenue Recreation Center on Friday, February 4 from noon – 9 p.m. and Embassy Suites Hotel on Saturday, February 5 from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
