Alameda Street to close between Ridge Lake Drive and 36th Avenue East on Wednesday, June 29, 2022

Beginning Wednesday, June 29, 2022, Alameda Street will be closed to traffic between Ridge Lake Drive and 36th Avenue East for the widening and reconstruction of Alameda Street. Silver Star Construction has been completing items along the edges of this segment of roadway since April 13, 2022, to minimize the closure time. The roadway is anticipated to be closed until September 2022.  Detour routes will be installed prior to the closure of Alameda Street.

History of the Project

The City of Norman conducted a bid opening on December 16, 2021, for the Alameda Street Widening Project, located from Ridge Lake Boulevard to east of 48th Avenue East. The low bidder was Silver Star Construction, Inc. of Moore, Oklahoma in the amount of $3,616,910.70.  City Council approved the award of this project on January 25, 2022.  This project had a delayed start date to allow the private utility companies enough time to relocate their utilities in conflict with this project.  Silver Star began work on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.  This project will be constructed in two separate phases.  The Urban Project Phase will be from Ridge Lake Boulevard to east of 36th Avenue East.  The Rural Project Phase will be from east of 36th Avenue East to east of 48th Avenue East.  The City of Norman is administering the construction of this project.
