Acres Inset Parking on East Acres Street between Peters Avenue and Crawford Avenue

EMC Services, LLC will begin construction of inset parking on the 200 block of Acres Street between Peters Avenue and Crawford Avenue on Monday, December 27, 2021. This work is expected to last for 10 days and will include minor traffic impacts. Alternate routes are advised during this construction.

History of the Project

On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, Norman residents voted to approve the issuance of $27 million in bonds to fund the resurfacing, rehabilitation and reconstruction of neighborhood streets as part of a 5-year, 5-category program. The five categories include: (1) Urban Asphalt Street Rehabilitation, (2) Urban Concrete Street Rehabilitation, (3) Urban Road Reconstruction, (4) Rural Road Rehabilitation, and (5) Preventative Maintenance. Prior to the election, the City provided a list of all streets included in the program based upon the pavement condition data from the City’s current Pavement Management System. The following is the list of the FYE 2022 Urban Concrete Pavement, Bid 1 project locations included in this project:

 

Sherwood Forest Addition:              Walnut Road (Imhoff Road / S. Cul-de-Sac)

                                                                Robinhood Lane (Walnut Road / Cul-de-Sac)

                                                                Merrymen Green (Walnut Road / Walnut Road)

Forest Hills Addition:                         Imhoff Road (Chautauqua Avenue / Walnut Road)

                                                                Imhoff Road (Berry Road / Highway 9)

                                                                Imhoff Road (Highway 9 / Marigold Trail)

                                                                Imhoff Road (Marigold Trail / Highway 9)

Rolling Hills Estates:                           Van Buren Street (24th Avenue SW / Filmore Avenue)

Summit Valley Addition:                   Valley Hollow (Wood Valley Road / Wood Valley Road)

 

This project involves rehabilitation of the existing pavement including concrete panel replacement. On Tuesday July 13, 2021, Norman City Council approved Contract K-2122-2 with EMC Services, LLC to complete the above listed work. Acres Inset Parking was added as an additional location to address an existing need.
