This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.
Education and Experience: Two year college degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
License and Certifications: Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and satisfactory motor vehicle record.
Knowledge of: Concepts, programming, and administration of recreation activities and programs.
Skill in: Oral communication. Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees and participants while performing duties.
Duties and Responsibilities: Assists in planning and organizing programs at the recreational facility. Maintains statistical records and reports. Opens and closes Center. Helps organize and works new and existing recreational programs for the community and maintain the general appearance of the recreation facility. Keeps score for basketball leagues. Works special events on request. Performs other duties as requested by the Recreation Center Supervisor or Recreation Superintendent. (May be required to work at other Recreation Centers, if needed.)
Working Conditions: Works in an office environment; however, time is spent outside (approximately 10% to 25% of the time) exposed to temperature extremes, dirt, dust, noise, etc.
Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively with public and school personnel. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ability to lift and carry light (up to 25 lbs.) supplies, materials, and equipment frequently. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) supplies, materials, and equipment occasionally. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.
