Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction Science, Construction Management, Landscape Contracting, or related field. 

Licenses and Certifications:  Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle record. 

Knowledge:  Knowledge of design principles, construction techniques, construction contracts and CAD and other drafting/graphics software. Practice of landscape architecture as applied to the preparation of site design projects, utility plans, site development plans and specifications for landscape and grounds, facility improvements, and park development.   Principles of civil engineering and surveying as they apply to the development and review of plan sets and bid documents for parks and recreation areas.  Conducting research and field investigations pertaining to land use and ownership, and characteristics of various plant materials.  Preparing designs, drawings, or color renderings. 

Skills:  Communicating both orally and in writing.  Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of City employees and citizens.  Moderately complex computations.  Using computer drafting, drawing and civil engineering equipment.

Essential Functions: Works under the direct supervision of the Park Development Manager to oversee capital projects for park construction and facility improvements, to include the review of detailed plans and specifications; attending pre-bid conferences, bid openings, and all pre-work and project progress meetings.  Prepares project contracts and bonds for City Council agenda items and conducts field work and participates in the on-site management of capital projects.  Assists in tracking parkland dedication fees and deeds and park development fees; researches land values for fee negotiations; conducts land purchase transactions for the acquisition of public parkland.  Prepares Staff Recommendations for Park Board.  Assists with the preparation of park designs and landscape designs for all public facilities.  Recommends maintenance programs and equipment installations.  Works with other project managers in Parks and Recreation and other City departments to coordinate work timelines and construction schedules.  Performs park inventories and accessibility evaluations of park land and facilities.  Performs a variety of drafting duties, in the preparation of detailed plans, maps, and graphic presentations.  Gathers, maintains and presents information on park development and parkland dedication. Coordinates projects with various volunteer groups, partner organizations and other citizen groups to carry-out various projects as they are presented and approved.  Performs other related work as required.

Mental and Physical Abilities:  Mental/visual effort required due to sustained periods of concentration and working under pressure of deadlines, and continual interruptions in concentration from staff and citizens requiring assistance and information.  Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lb.) 5-10% of work time.  Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance. 

Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to outdoor temperature extremes, dirt, dust, noise, etc.  Hours may be irregular depending on project.

Additional Information:  Selected applicant must pass a background investigation, physical examination and drug screen.
