Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.  Ability to understand, follow and/or provide verbal and written instructions or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

License and Certifications:  Valid Oklahoma Driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.  Selected applicant must obtain Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with air brakes, within six (6) months from the date of employment.

Knowledge:  Hand and power tools.  Maintenance and construction work.

Skills:  Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous to fellow employees and citizens while performing duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:  Mows and removes debris from drainage ways using hand and power tools; hauls dirt, rock or debris.  Performs erosion control operations in drainage ways.  Assists in the installation of concrete for sidewalks, curbs, pavement, and drainage structures.  Hauls construction material on a dump truck.  Interfaces with citizens in person regarding minor complaints or questions.  Inspects equipment for safety hazards before use.  Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as needed.  Works in a manner safe to the individual and public.  Keeps work area clean and safe.  Follows safety rules and safe work practices.  Uses safety equipment as required.  Directs traffic at work site.  Performs related duties as required.

Working Conditions: Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extreme temperatures, noise, and noxious fumes and odors.  Exposure to hazards associated with equipment, machinery, upgraded terrain at construction sites, and moving vehicles on roadways.  On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.

Mental and Physical Abilities:  Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.  Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lb.) and heavy (50-75 lb.) supplies, materials, and debris frequently.  Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.   Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.
