The Norman Police Department with host its next Coffee with a Cop in-person on Thursday, March 18. The event is scheduled for 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Not Your Average Joe, 1001 Elm Avenue. All community members are invited to attend. Masks are required and social distancing requirements will be followed.

The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community, and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop allows community members to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in Norman’s neighborhoods, breaking down barriers and providing an opportunity for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.

The monthly event is held on different days of the week and at different times of day each month to ensure our residents have equal opportunity to come together with their local police officers to discuss community issues and build relationships in an informal, neutral space.
