PROGRAM INFORMATION

The City of Norman appreciates all employees who have chosen to invest in our community through public service. As part of this appreciation, a revamped Employee Recognition & Awards Program has been implemented for 2025-2026. Workplace recognition motivates, inspires, and provides a sense of accomplishment and thanks. City of Norman staff is invited to  join in on this process and join take part in this program to help celebrate YOU, your teams and all of the hard work that goes into keeping our residents cared for.

 

NOMINATION INFORMATION

    Each submission intended for City of Norman staff MUST contain the following: Name/department/phone number of nominator; name/department/phone number and length of service (if a certain length of service is required for a given award) of nominee; the name of the award that is to be considered for the nominee. Submissions intended for outside parties/outside volunteers should contain: Name/department/phone number of nominator; name/phone number/email address of nominee; the name of the award that is to be considered for the nominee. Additional instruction is contained in the above, linked document.

    Award nominations in the Employee Excellence or Project & Agency categories can be submitted by any City of Norman staff member in essay or bulleted list format. Nominations should clearly demonstrate why said person is worthy of the award for which they are being nominated. 

    Public Servant of the Year Award category nominations can be submitted by managers and directors only. 

    Self-nominations are not accepted for any award. Anonymous nominations are not accepted for any award. Nominations should not exceed one 8x11 page. Nominations of one person for multiple awards is acceptable but each nomination should have its own submission. Nominations should be submitted via email to EmployeeAwards@Normanok.gov by 11:59 PM on 12/15/25 or in-person/by inter-office mail distribution to the Office of Communications at City Hall (Municipal Complex - 201 W. Gray).

    Nominations will ultimately be evaluated by a peer group of City employees with representation from each department. Information about each award and considered criteria for evaluation, as well as applicable eligibility requirements, can be found in the document linked above. Award winners will be honored at a luncheon for the City of Norman in late March. Details about this event will be announced to all staff in 2026.
