UPDATE 8/14/2026: Following the wind storm of 7/4/26, citywide storm debris collection continues. Operations began 7/9/26 and, since implementation, service has expanded to take place every day of the week and additional trucks have been brought in to expedite collection processes. As of 8/14/26, approximately 52,000 cubic yards of debris has been removed.

To help speed up collection, the City of Norman is encouraging residents to place small branches, leaves and routine yard waste out for their regular weekly yard waste collection, while leaving only larger storm debris piles for the special storm debris removal crews. This allows specialized contractors to focus on the largest debris while Sanitation crews continue collecting routine yard waste through their normal routes.

The City is offering its 33-gallon yard waste containers at a special promotional price of $20 (regularly $30), while supplies last. Containers are available to City of Norman utility customers and can be ordered by calling 405-329-1023. The cost will be added to your monthly utility bill and the container will be delivered to your service address. Permanent containers and compostable paper bags are the City's preferred, environmentally friendly methods for yard waste collection.

The collection period for storm debris removal has been expanded to occur through the end of August 2026 citywide. General progress maps are available for review here but collection operations will remain flexible in order to provide the highest levels of service to the community.

OTHER INFORMATION & RESOURCES

  • PUBLIC DAMAGE/DEBRIS CLEARING: City crews cannot assist with debris clearing on private property. Obstructions to public rights-of-way can be reported to the City of Norman Action Center during traditional business hours. Please do not report the same location multiple times, this could slow the organization, planning and execution process.

  • TRANSFER AND COMPOST STATIONS: Until further notice, only residential units visiting the Transfer Station and Compost Facility in Norman will be accepted for drop-offs. Residents utilizing either the Compost Facility or Transfer Station should bring their utility bill or a form of ID with a Norman address. The Compost Facility will take vegetation that is no longer than 8 feet and no more than 12 inches in diameter.
