Norman Engages Community in Public Safety Study: Police and Fire Departments Seek Community Feedback

Norman community members are invited to participate in a community survey on public safety as part of the ongoing Public Safety Resource Allocation Study with Matrix Consulting Group. The survey aims to gather valuable feedback and insights from residents and business owners regarding public safety departments and operations in Norman.

The community survey covers various aspects related to police and fire services including public safety concerns, response times, performance, community outreach efforts, and overall satisfaction with services provided.

“The safety and security of our community is paramount,” said Norman Police Chief Kevin Foster. “By actively involving residents and business owners in this study, we aim to identify ways to further enhance public safety response capabilities. The insights gathered through the survey will be instrumental in shaping our strategies and enhancing our services to better serve the needs of Norman.”

Residents and business owners can access the survey online at surveymonkey.com/r/7PYBYY8. The survey is available May 20 through May 26, 2024.

“Having input from the community is very valuable,” said Norman Fire Chief Travis King. “We always like to analyze feedback and see how and if it can be used to improve the quality and efficiency of the service we provide.”

Community feedback is one of several portions of the ongoing Public Safety Resource Allocation Study. The study has been analyzing the current service environment as well as public safety services, department organization, staffing, facilities, equipment, and technology for both police and fire. Results of the study are expected to be presented at a public meeting in Summer 2024.
