Adidas 3SSB Girls Circuit event to be held at Young Family Athletic Center and Norman locations May 17-19, 2024

The City of Norman and community partners are excited to host the Adidas 3SSB Girls Circuit basketball event this weekend, one of four live period sessions for girls basketball approved through the NCAA. The event will feature 200 teams from across the country, as well as coaches and recruiters from top universities; it is open to spectators by day or weekend passes.

“This is such a joy and special opportunity for us here in Norman,” said Kellen McCoy, Athletics Supervisor for the City of Norman. “This is the first time a shoe circuit live period event has ever been hosted in the state of Oklahoma and we are looking forward to building upon this new partnership and making the event a great success.”

The event begins Friday at the Young Family Athletic Center (YFAC), 2201 Trae Young Drive, and will coincide with a pop-up opening of the Adidas Trae Young Apparel Store. Certain games may also take place at Norman High School, 911 W. Main, throughout the weekend.

“Our hosting of this event wouldn’t be possible without the support and persistence of the Young family, who are the visionaries of this facility and champion advocates,” McCoy said. “We appreciate the Young family and all who have come together to make this dream a reality. We hope everyone will come out to see some great basketball this weekend!”

Day or weekend passes will range from $20 to $60 per person. Interested parties can call 405-321-9322 for more information.

“There undoubtedly will be future college and WNBA stars playing at the YFAC this weekend, right here in Norman, Oklahoma,” said Rayford Young, speaking on behalf of his family. “It is truly a special honor to host this live period showcase event. There was a ton of work done behind the scenes in regards to the Young Family, Norman Regional Hospital, Norman City Council and the Adidas Basketball Brand to make this happen. These types of events are exactly what we imagined when we decided to partner with the City to create the Young Family Athletic Center.”

ABOUT THE YFAC

The YFAC was opened in February 2024. The 122,000 sq. ft. facility is built on a 12-acre site in the University North Park District. The YFAC stands as a pinnacle of excellence, offering premier basketball and volleyball courts, aquatics, sports medicine, youth sports, sports camps, leagues, and a retail Adidas store. The project was funded through Norman FORWARD sales tax, a construction supplement through the University North Park Tax Increment District, funding from the Norman Regional Health System and a generous donation from the Trae Young Family Foundation.
