We have identified four current types of neighborhood groups which share the following interests.

bullet

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) NEIGHBORHOODS - These neighborhoods are primarily located in the "core" areas of Norman and are eligible for federal funds set aside for special projects on the basis of neighborhood income.

bullet

CRIME WATCH NEIGHBORHOODS - There are over 50 neighborhood watch groups in the City of Norman.  Each crime watch neighborhood has a beat officer assigned to their area and a city contact person is available for assistance.

bullet

COMMON AREA MAINTENANCE NEIGHBORHOODS - These associations and homeowners groups share a common area of interest:  perhaps a right of way, a pool, street lights, etc. that needs to be maintained.

bullet

NEIGHBORHOOD PARK GROUPS - These people share an interest in the design, maintenance, and needs of the park that services their neighborhood.
