In January of 2003, the City Council approved a contract with the Engineering Firm of HNTB, Inc.  This contract was to address the feasibility of constructing grade separations for the railroad crossings at Robinson Street and Lindsey Street.  HNTB made their final report to the City Council at their meeting of June 3, 2003.  Town Hall meetings to discuss this report with the public have been scheduled for July 15, 2003; July 24, 2003; and August 4, 2003.  Copies of the full report are available for review at the Norman Public Library, the City of Norman City Clerks office and the Public Works office.  The executive summary and presentation slides for this study follow.

This railroad grade separation feasibility study presents the results to establish preliminary horizontal and vertical alignments for Robinson Street and Lindsey Street at the intersections of the BNSF Railroad.  The purpose of this study was to perform a preliminary design to determine:

  1. The feasibility of constructing grade separation structure at the Robinson Street and Lindsey Street intersections.
  2. The most functional alignments for constructing the grade separations.
  3. The estimated cost of the construction.
