Are you interested in becoming a Norman Police Officer?
The City of Norman is currently registering interested applicants for testing
for the 48th Norman Police Academy. Testing includes the written and physical
agility tests. Applicants must be 21 years of age by July 8th, 2010.
If over 45 years of age, applicants must be a prior member of the Oklahoma
Police Pension and Retirement System.
Applicants must also have 60 college credit hours
from an accredited college or university by July 8th, 2010. The
department will waive thirty (30) hours of the college requirement if you have
three (3) years of military service with nothing less then an honorable
discharge; or two (2) years prior law enforcement experience with a Police
Department which has 25 or more certified full time Police Officers. A valid driver’s
license and satisfactory driving record is required. Selected applicants must
pass extensive background investigation, polygraph, psychological, physical
examinations and drug screen, and must be able to meet the requirements of the
Oklahoma Police Pension and Retirement System. Applicants must be available to
work all three shifts. The current starting salary is $40,767.
APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 21 years of age by July 8th, 2010. Can not
turn 45 years of age prior to October 9th, 2009. If
over 45 years of age, applicants must be a prior member of the Oklahoma
Police Pension and Retirement System.

No felony convictions.

Valid driver’s license (out-of-state applicants must have
ability to obtain Oklahoma Driver’s License).

High school diploma or GED, plus sixty (60) college credit
hours from an accredited college or university attained by October 9th,
2009. The department will waive thirty (30) hours of the college
requirement if you have three (3) years of military service with nothing
less then an honorable discharge; or two (2) years prior law enforcement
experience with a Police Department which has 25 or more certified full time
Police Officers.

Ability to perform essential duties of a Police Officer.
Important deadlines:

If testing on September 18th, documents must be received in
the Human Resources Department no later then 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September
11th.

If testing on November 21st, documents must be received in
the Human Resources Department no later then 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November
13th.
