I
believe that Norman needs to retain some of its rural flavor even while rushing
headlong into suburban sprawl. My property backs onto Bishop Creek and I think
we should create a footpath along the creek. If everyone allowed a 10 foot
frontage on the creek we could create a path reaching from central to far
southern Norman which would allow people to see not only green, but some
wildlife (I have a beaver dam in my backyard). Bicycle and walking paths all
over Norman would help retain some of the non-urban flavor that many of us
prize, and would help mitigate the Southern California sprawl image that much of
Norman seems to be adopting. (I escaped Los Angeles after living there for 33
years and promise you, that's not what you want to have happen to Norman).
