The
City of Norman, with its bustling business districts, scattered residential
areas and humming highways, encompasses all that plus a remnant of Irving's
cast-iron forest. It can be found east of the city, near the south shore
of Lake Thunderbird. Some is on a parcel of private property, adjacent to
Little River State Park, that belongs to a man who wanted someone to walk
the land and assess its potential for a conservation easement. We (Peter and
I) volunteered for the assignment and set off with our leaders, Lyntha and
Charles Wesner, one Sunday in April. |
