24th Avenue East intermittently closes at Alameda Street through mid-March

Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, OG&E will begin relocating its power poles along the west side of 24th Avenue East between Alameda Street and Robinson Street. Because of the safety-sensitive nature of this work, 24th Avenue East may be temporarily closed to through traffic where OG&E crews are working at the time. These temporary road closures will only occur from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mondays thru Thursdays.
Traffic will be allowed access either from the north or the south to neighborhoods and driveways.  OG&E’s utility pole project is being completed in advance of the City’s 24th Avenue East Bond Project. Weather permitting, the OG&E project is expected to be completed in the next thirty (30) days.
The recommended detour route when parts of 24th Avenue East are temporarily closed will be 36th Avenue East. Traffic signage will be displayed in advance to assist the traveling public, and OG&E crews will utilize a flagging operation to direct traffic whenever these construction activities encroach onto the roadway.

Future changes to traffic conditions will be announced as they are scheduled. Questions about the project may be directed to Mr. Chris Serrano, City Construction Manager, at 405-366-5265 or chris.serrano@normanok.gov
